John Sorrell
The Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) is a government supported organisation with the objective of establishing Hong Kong as an international centre of design excellence in Asia, and to promote wider and strategic use of design and design thinking to create business value and improve societal well-being.
Each year, HKDC hosts thousands of guests to its Business of Design Week Event, featuring speakers from around the globe to address key issues facing designers and society at large.
In addition to the live-events, the event is broadcast to hundreds of thousands of viewers on TV in the region. NextShoot have worked with HKDC since 2021 to help produce and film content for keynote speakeras in the UK and Europe for promotional use acorss their website and social media channels, display at the event and for broadcast within the context of their programme of events.
In 2021, we were invited to interview renowned designer Sir John Sorrell CBE, co-founder and presient of London Design Week, at our central London studio to create a film which would form part of the Business of Design Week.
The week-long Summit featured a line-up of 80+ prominent leaders and innovators, joining across the globe, who all underlined the urgency and significance of the ‘Global Design Reset’ facing today’s world and was viewed by a global audience of over 600,000.
John has championed the UK’s creative industries for more than 50 years.
He is a designer, producer and entrepreneur and has had various roles and appointments in the private and public sectors.
In 2003, he founded the London Design Festival, and in 2016, the London Design Biennale, both of which have become blueprint events for showcasing the most exciting international design and creative thinking.
