In September 2020, Cape Town-based artist Oliver Barnett returned to his native Oxfordshire to present his show Small Gods, a series of large-scale photographs that present the power and mystery of nature.
This natural world is presented both as an environment that contains us and an organism of which we form an integral part. The work subtly suggests the presence of the ancient totems and symbols through vertical and horizontal mirroring lines, like a photographic Rorschach test.
NextShoot was invited to create a 3 minute video about the work in Small Gods. We interviewed the artist in the exhibition space and filmed broll material of him reviewing his work, as well as details of the photographs. Three 30 second Social Media videos were also produced on specific works of art.
