Construction

At NextShoot we are experts in video production for construction companies and property developers, structural engineers and architects.

Few, if any, video production companies in London share our depth of experience in producing content for the construction industry. We are the only video production company in the UK to follow the entire design, construction and fit-out cycle of a 1.1 million square foot building in the City of London over four years - from the ground works through the concrete pour, construction of the cores, floor plates, roof and facade, via the topping-out and the fit-out to the opening day, and beyond.

Video production for a construction company or building developer requires a familiarity with industry-specific procedures. Our wealth of construction industry experience means we understand the processes, the systems and the terminology involved in construction and development. We integrate with project managers, contractors and subcontractors. Our staff have the training, expertise, and certifications to work safely virtually anywhere with, and we produce detailed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all work undertaken. We capture stunning timelapse video - both fixed, long-term timelapse shots and motion controlled, short-term timelapse als0 - and we offer aerial filming from a helicopter platform and drone video services also.

Whether you’re a construction company, a property developer, a structural engineer or an architect we can support your Internal & External Comms on: Infrastructure Projects; Market Expertise; BIM; Innovation; Community Engagement; Response to Climate Change & Sustainability; Inclusive Work Culture and Diversity; Careers & Training. Our work engages audiences with clear, impactful and intelligent storytelling to ensure that we put your company’s message across in the best way possible.

Sir Robert McAlpine

NextShoot worked alongside SRM for over 4 years (2013-2017) documenting the construction of a ‘groundscraper’ in the City of London, Bloomberg’s European HQs. We followed the progress of the construction company on this one million square feet infrastructure project, from the groundworks right through to the opening of the building.

Part of our coverage included fixed long-term time-lapse cameras, but our crews were on site weekly to film important moments and conduct interviews with key players, charting the progress of the construction and capturing insights from SRM and the various subcontractors involved.

Our video about the building’s facade took us to Japan, Italy, German, China and Finland where our crews filmed the processes involved in creating the various elements that made up the envelope of the building, including the stone, bronze fins, glass and elevators.

The footage from 4 years of documenting the construction of the building was shaped into a compelling 45 minute documentary - the seed to saucepan story of constructing an office building - and shown on Bloomberg TV.

Arup Tunnel Ventilation Video Arup Tunnel Ventilation Video
Arup

We produced a video for Arup's tunnel ventilation team that highlighted their expert work on international road, rail, subway and cable projects through four case-studies in different parts of the world (Singapore, Denmark, USA, Germany).

We filmed interviews with key team members at Arups' London office and edited this with filmic broll of the team working together and photographic and video project imagery that included CAD renders and 3D modelling.

The final film showcased Arup’s global resources, seamless collaboration and technical excellence and the firm’s sustainable solutions and independence as a consultancy.

Louis Vuitton Selfridges Townhouse Construction Louis Vuitton Selfridges Townhouse Construction
Louis Vuitton Townhouse, Selfridges

When Louis Vuitton opened its multi-leveled boutique in London department store Selfridges, our video agency was there to capture the entire construction and fit-out of the luxury brand’s new shop-in-shop.

The three-storey ‘Townhouse’ was designed by Gwenaël Nicolas using luxurious materials including stone, leather and glass, offset with mood lights and a vintage décor to give visitors a true Louis Vuitton experience. The focus of the ‘Townhouse’ is the double helix, rotating glass elevator in the centre of the store that connected each level.

Often filming at night, we visited the ‘Townhouse’ throughout the construction and fit-out process to gather film that charted the different beats to the story. Our team was there on the final evening when the merchandise was laid out and the store given a final polish before the doors were opened to the public.

Foster + Partners

Foster + Partners, the architecture studio founded by Norman Foster in 1967, has a global reputation for the design of high-profile glass-and-steel buildings including the Reichstag Building (Berlin), Hearst Tower (New York City) Apple Park (Cupertino, CA) and 30 St. Mary Axe, aka ‘The Gherkin’ (London).

Foster + Partners were appointed architects on the Bloomberg London HQs project - the largest stone edifice in London after St. Paul’s Cathedral and the most sustainable office-design in the world.

NextShoot covered the entire construction and fit-out process over a number of years, working closely with lead architects at F+P and conducting a number of interviews with Lord Foster. Our interview content covered the design, function, innovation and sustainability credentials of the building that went on to win the 2018 RIBA Sterling Prize.

We followed F+P lead architects on trips to Japan, China, Italy, Germany and the USA to capture on film the entire design input throughout the building’s construction.

Josef Gartner Construction Video Josef Gartner Construction Video
Josef Gartner

Part of the Permasteelisa Group, Josef Gartner specialises in facades, helping architects around the world to realise their ambitious ideas.

Gartner commissioned our video agency in London to make a promotional video showing the manufacturing of enormous bespoke glass panels in a factory in China and delivered to the UK for a 31,500 sqm office facade.

Our video production team filmed at Northglass in Tianjin, China. Here 550 glass panels weighing 90 kilos each were cut, serrated, cleaned, polished, heat-treated, laminated and assembled into frames. The largest were 3.65 x 2.92 metres and weighed 800 kilos.

To transport the frames to Germany and from there to London on time the frames were packed into wooden crates and air-freighted in a Russian Ilyushin 76, a cargo plane with a 45 tonne load capacity. After 2 stops and 3 days in transit they arrived at Gartner’s Gundelfingen production facilities where they were assembled into aluminium cladding units and moved by lorry to the UK.
