Deaf Victorians for the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust
We were commissioned by the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust to co-produce a historical documentary along with Deaf Heritage following the very different lives of three deaf Victorians brought together by St. Saviour’s Church in London.
St.Saviour’s was the heart of London’s deaf community, offering both spiritual and financial support to its parishioners. The film follows the trials and tribulations faced by the deaf in the nineteenth century through the stories of Jane Groom, Charles Webb Moore and Skirving Thomson.
Shot on location around London, the film uses interview content and dramatic reconstruction to bring the stories to life.
It was first broadcast in January 2017 on Film4 and is available to watch in full on the BSLBT website.
